Highland Park

Scotland's most northerly classic distillery sits above Kirkwall in Orkney, where the peat is heather rather than forest — giving a floral, aromatic smoke unlike anywhere else. Highland Park still turns malt on its own floors, matures largely in sherry-seasoned oak, and wraps the whole in Viking branding earned by Orkney's Norse centuries. The 12-year-old's balance of honey, heather smoke and sherry is routinely cited among whisky's best all-rounders.
