A golf-caddie's dream distillery among Fife barley
Kingsbarns began as the dream of a St Andrews golf caddie who saw barley fields beside the fairways and imagined a distillery; the Wemyss family made it real in a restored 18th-century farm steading in 2014. Everything is Fife-grown and unhurried — long fermentations, gentle distillation — for a bright, fruity new-generation Lowland malt of banana, pear and citrus that has quickly become the flag-bearer of the region's revival.
