Bunnahabhain

At the end of a single-track road on the Sound of Islay, Bunnahabhain quietly breaks the island's rules: its house style is essentially unpeated, drawing spring water that never touches peat. The result is a nutty, sherried, sea-salted malt closer in spirit to a coastal Speysider — though occasional peated releases prove it can join the island chorus when it chooses. The 12-year-old is one of whisky's great under-priced drams.
