Tomatin

In the 1970s Tomatin was Scotland's largest malt distillery, a 23-still giant feeding the blend boom; when that market crashed it was rescued by its Japanese customers — the first Scottish distillery under Japanese ownership — and reinvented itself as a softer, sweeter single malt. A genuine village distillery in the Monadhliath hills, where most workers still live on site, it now bottles gentle, honeyed drams and the peated Cù Bòcan sideline.
