Tempranillo is medium in almost everything — colour, acid, tannin — with red-cherry, plum, leather and tobacco notes. It gains complexity from blending and oak, and ripens early (its name comes from temprano, “early”).

One grape, many names
It travels under aliases: Tinto Fino / Tinta del País in Ribera, Tinta de Toro in Toro, and Tinta Roriz / Aragonez in Portugal.
