Why faults matter
Part of tasting well is knowing when a wine is faulty — not just 'not to my taste'. A fault is a flaw introduced in the cellar, in the bottle, or by a bad closure. Spotting them saves money and sharpens your palate.

Fault vs style
Some 'faults' at low levels are stylistic (a whiff of struck match, a hint of brett). It's a fault when it dominates and spoils the wine. Context and degree matter.
