Wine in one sentence
At its simplest, wine is fermented grape juice. Yeast eats the natural sugar in the grapes and turns it into alcohol and carbon dioxide. That's the whole magic trick.

◉
Why grapes?
Grapes are nearly perfect for wine: they're full of sugar, acid and flavour, and their skins carry wild yeast and colour. No other fruit balances all of this so well.
